While the Multipurpose Stadium at Mac Point will offer an exciting arena for a range of sports, it is also being designed with fans, performers, operators and event managers in mind, offering a versatile and user-friendly space for a wide range of events.
MPDC CEO Anne Beach highlighted the importance of efficient setup and breakdown.
“We’ve incorporated a dedicated stage area into the northern stand, providing easy access and proximity to removable seating,” she said.
“The stage will be integrated into the seating bowl rather than on the field, allowing for a flexible configuration to suit different event formats.”
The Multipurpose Stadium will cater to both large-scale events and smaller, more intimate gatherings.
“Modern venues need to adapt to changing demands,” Ms Beach said. “Our design ensures the Stadium can host major concerts and tours while also accommodating smaller festivals and shows.”
Safety is a paramount consideration. The specialist design team led by Cox Architecture have developed a comprehensive egress strategy to handle large crowds efficiently.
“We’ve focused on creating clear exit paths from the field, primarily through the lower bowl aisles and Level 1 concourse gateways,” Ms Beach said. “Removable seating in specific sections will be removed for concerts, providing direct and unobstructed exit routes.”
The Multipurpose Stadium at Mac Point is set to become a premier entertainment destination, offering a flexible and safe environment for events of all sizes.
