UPDATE - Procurement milestone reached for Macquarie Point Multipurpose Stadium
The Macquarie Point Multipurpose Stadium project has reached a significant procurement milestone, with BESIX Watpac selected as the preferred tenderer to progress to Stage 2 of the Request for Tender process.
The selection follows a comprehensive evaluation of submissions received through Stage 1, involving technical, commercial and governance assessments to determine the strongest proposal for the project.
Stage 2 will enable further refinement of project delivery arrangements and continued engagement with local industry before a final decision on contract award is made.
Over the coming months, BESIX Watpac will continue working with Macquarie Point Development Corporation and industry partners to develop delivery plans, maximise opportunities for Tasmanian businesses and workers, and finalise details that will inform a potential construction contract.
The Macquarie Point Multipurpose Stadium is a key component of the broader Macquarie Point urban renewal project, which will transform Hobart's waterfront into a vibrant precinct that delivers economic, community and cultural benefits for Tasmania.
A contract award is currently targeted for later this year.
