Housing Plan
The Residential Development and Public Foreshore Zone provides for a residential development that includes affordable housing for key workers in the health sector, as well as maintaining public foreshore amenity and infrastructure in that locality, as part of the Mac Point Precinct.
The Housing Plan provides an overview of:

• the proposed site
• connection, accessibility and proximity to amenities
• land use conflicts, recognising proximity to the port
• the proposed development, inclusive of private housing and affordable keyworker housing
• community space and access
• market sounding
• site investigations including infrastructure
• delivery and commercial drivers
The objectives of the Regatta Point Residential Development are:

1. To support the activation of Mac Point by including residential apartments for private residents and key health workers.

2. To establish a mixed tenure development, incorporating commercial and public space, that captures the locational advantages of the site and can be used as a demonstration for similar projects.

3. To increase medium density housing supply in Hobart to meet growing demand in accordance with the 30 Year Greater Hobart Plan.

4. Provide housing for allied health professionals and other health-related workers that are in identified skill shortage areas, to provide affordable housing in close proximity to the Royal Hobart Hospital and the University of Tasmania’s School of Medicine.

5. Activate private investment in the Mac Point Precinct.

6. Provide enhanced public access to the waterfront and existing jetties and marine infrastructure.
