Acting Chief Executive Officer, Anne Beach
Today we are moving into a new phase of consultation to help shape Mac Point.
We want the Mac Point Precinct to be a place to gather, to celebrate and to reflect, through the arts, culture, sport, events and entertainment.
The completed project will deliver a vibrant mixed-use precinct that will include a multipurpose stadium, the Truth and Reconciliation Park, facilities to support Tasmania’s role as a Gateway to the Antarctic and Southern Ocean, housing and more.
We want to hear from Tasmanians about what they want to see at Mac Point, such as:
- How should the site look and feel?
- What opportunities could it unlock?
- What would you like to see as part of the Precinct?
Your feedback will help us to prepare a Precinct Plan for the site. The plan will be a visual outline that will capture key use areas and show how to access the site, and will help us to review the site masterplan.
It will also be used to help prepare a design brief for the multipurpose stadium.
“We know the redevelopment of Mac Point is something many people in the community feel passionately about” Ms Beach said.
“This is an opportunity to share those views with us as we start the process to develop a Precinct Plan. Your ideas can be shared through written submissions, by leaving a comment against the survey questions on our website or even by sending us a sketch or picture.
“This is the first key step towards delivering the Macquarie Point Urban Renewal Project and will provide the foundations for the development of the site and stadium,” Ms Beach said.
Your feedback is encouraged by Sunday, 13 August 2023 to ensure it can inform the development of the Precinct Plan.
