THE ESCARPMENT

The Escarpment is the cornerstone of Mac Point and sits on the edge of Hobart's CBD.

This is the one of seven developments at Mac Point, and was the site's first land parcel released to the market.

Milieu Property has been awarded the development opportunity.

With emphasis on community and culture, The Escarpment will build on Hobart’s reputation as an internationally renowned environmental and cultural destination.

The Escarpment will be a mixed-use precinct that celebrates Tasmania and fosters community at Mac Point—with strong connections to Sullivan’s Cove, the Regatta grounds, and the River Derwent.

The project includes apartments and short-stay accommodation designed for sustainable living, alongside restaurants, cafes, bars, retail and commercial spaces.

To ensure the project engages appropriately with the landscape and supports the local economy, The Escarpment will be designed in consultation with Hobart residents and key project stakeholders.

MAC POINT'S FUTURE

MDP cutout

The Master Development Plan establishes seven precincts within the 9.3-hectare site:

  1. The Escarpment;

  2. The Precinct;

  3. The Gateway;

  4. The Promenade;

  5. The Goods Shed;

  6.  The Underground; and

  7.  The Park.

These precincts are specifically designed to underpin the planning scheme framework and includes a range of mixed use and arts and institutional development including, the Hobart City Deal initiative for the Antarctic and Science Precinct to promote Hobart’s position as the gateway to the Antarctic and Southern Ocean.

The centrepiece will be the creation of The Park (truth and reconciliation art park) – a 13,000 square metre public open space important for large scale events and festivals, providing a meaningful and culturally respectful space to create a sense of connectedness through play, public art, green and cultural spaces.
