A firm with a strong local presence has been selected to begin remediation work on the first approved portion of land at Macquarie Point.
Synergy Resource Management Pty Ltd willbegin cleaning up the area along the northern boundary of the site, with workincluding; excavation, the removal of concrete, demolition of a shed, the removal of the former concrete batching plant and the stockpiling of soil.
Macquarie Point Development Corporation CEO, Mary Massina said it’s an exciting time for the project.
“We are pleased and excited to have a local company undertake the first stages of remediation work which will include the removal of around 6,000 tonnes of soil from the site.
The tender process was comprehensive, with Synergy Resource Management the obvious choice because of their extensive experience in the field of remediation,” Ms Massina said.
Macquarie Point Development Corporation has engaged the services of AECOM Pty Ltd in the role of Project Remediation Consultant to assist with the development, implementation and ongoing oversight of the remediation strategy for the Macquarie Point site.
“AECOM has developed a technical specification to provide a framework for the remediation of this parcel of land and will oversee all remediation work taking place on the site and will work closely with Synergy Resource Management in achieving that.
The contract for $594,000 worth of remediation work will help to support around 20 local jobs and is expected to be completed by December this year.” Ms Massina said.
A Request for Tender for the remediation work was advertised on 27 July 2019 and closed on 14 August 2019.
The work is due to begin on site in early October 2019.
